Een ode aan de vrouw

Bosnisch-Nederlands theatermaker Igor Vrebac onderzoekt met drie vrouwelijke performers de onvermoeibaarheid van het vrouwenlichaam. Ze laten zich opzwepen door de stuwende beats van componist Tonny Nobel en testen het uithoudingsvermogen van zowel zichzelf als het publiek. Hoe sterk kan een vrouw zijn zonder haar kracht te verliezen? In deze fysieke voorstelling wordt korte metten gemaakt met verwachtingspatronen rondom vrouwelijkheid. HEROES is daarom een ode aan de vrouw, de heldin die gezien mag worden in al haar glorie.

HEROES is de eerste productie onder het dak van Vrebac’s stichting. Het is na Macho Macho (winnaar van de Dioraphte Amsterdam Fringe 2016 award) en TRÆNS (selectie Nederlandse Dansdagen 2018) het sluitstuk van een drieluik waarin hij zijn persoonlijke verhouding tot, en perceptie op het mannelijke en het vrouwelijke gedrag onderzoekt. Dit keer neemt hij de wondere wereld van vrouwelijke bodybuilders onder de loep.

HEROES is geheel woordloos en dus verstaanbaar voor allen.

A TRIBUTE TO WOMEN

Bosnian-Dutch artist Igor Vrebac examines the strength of the female body with three superb women. They are driven and swept up by the energetic beats of composer Tonny Nobel to test their bodily endurance. How powerful is a woman without losing her strength? Together they put an end to stereotypical femininity and feminine behaviour to enjoy an everlasting celebration of stamina and heroicity. A physical performance as a tribute to women in their full glory.

HEROES is the first production of the Igor Vrebac Foundation. After Macho Macho (winner of the Dioraphte Best of Amsterdam Fringe Award 2016) and TRÆNS (selection for Dutch Dance Festival 2018) he concludes his theatrical quest for masculine and feminine behaviour with this tribute to women. This time he takes inspiration from the intriguing world of female bodybuilding.

HEROES is a language no problem performance and thus accessible to all.
